| It's a sure sign of spring when you see gangs of birds
Perhaps they were getting out of Daytona before spring break crowds hit and stopped by Jacksonville for the Monster Truck Jam. The Binmeister thinks they're heading to the Ohio primary to see which candidate lays the next egg. - On Feb. 16, a flash of red signaled the start of another progressive party. This time it arrived in the form of a big red double-decker bus carrying 65 ebullient Scots. The bus pulled up at Fionn MacCool's at Jacksonville Beach, the first stop on the Beaches Pub Crawl, a precursor to the Jacksonville Scottish Highland Games. The organization's treasurer, E.J. Taylor of Jacksonville Beach, and pub crawl host Audie Gibson were on hand to greet the - in some cases - kilt-clad partiers, who boarded the bus at Seven Bridges Grill & Brewery. Some wore their clan's plaid, and all carried mugs that said, "I survived the PUB Crawl." MacCool's General Manager Paul Glaser and his staff readily filled those mugs with the brews of choice.
Dollar Hits Third Record Low in a Week
The latest record for the euro drew a new round of criticism in Europe, particularly from trade unions worried about exports to the U.S. "An excessively expensive euro will cost European jobs, coming as it does on top of other setbacks to growth — the subprime financial crisis and credit squeeze, the U.S. recession, and the end of the construction boom in several EU countries," the European Trade Union Confederation warned. European Union businesses said they were starting to feel the pinch, too, notably from U.S.-based buyers who pay for goods from Europe. "We said when the euro was above $1.40 that we feel the pain. When the euro is above $1.50, it is alarming," said Ernest-Antoine Sillier, president of the EU employers' group BusinessEurope.
Police to headline Stormont concert
An open-air rock concert is to be held in the grounds of the Stormont Estate in Belfast this summer, it was announced. The Police are to make what is being billed as their final Irish appearance ever in late June. It is the latest in a series of open-air concerts at Stormont which have seen such stars as Pavarotti, Elton John, Rod Stewart and the Eagles entertain tens of thousands of people. Welcoming the announcement, Northern Ireland First Minister the Rev Ian Paisley said: "This is a fantastic coup for Northern Ireland. An event of this magnitude has a sizeable benefit for the economy, not least our tourism industry. "The beautiful grounds of the Stormont Estate are a fantastic venue for this event and it is fitting that they should be used by the public in this way." Deputy First Minister Martin McGuinness said: "This concert will send a message to the world that not only is the North open for business but that it is also a vibrant and exciting place to be.
Candidates offer final messages before Iowa caucus
She fought a pitched battle against overwhelming odds back in 1993. To prevent this disastrous health care crisis that is now devastating the American people, and America. She fought so hard for the American people that she risk almost completely destroying her husbands presidency. I haven't forgotten her heroic effort. If any Presidential hopeful for universal health care deserves my support, it's her. Also, if we the American people fail to bring enough pressure on our government to give us HR 676 which we all so desperately need NOW! Then we will need the most skilled politician we can get on our side to broker the best health care plan for the American people that we can get. Though it will be less than we need, and less than we deserve. The politician I think to best do this is Hillary Clinton.
Gunman Kills 8 in Jewish Seminary
That festive holiday falls during Adar, the month on the Hebrew calendar that started Thursday and is often marked with fireworks. That is what many students at the seminary said they thought they were hearing when the gunman opened fire. "I thought it was firecrackers, but then I realized it was too loud," said Itay Tuchfeld, who was in his room two floors above the library at the time. "I looked out my window and saw someone enter the library with a gun. He was spraying bullets in all directions." "I locked myself in my room and called my father, who telephoned the police," he told Israel Radio. Tzuker, the paramedic, arrived during the shooting. He and other witnesses said they heard both single shots and automatic gunfire from inside the building.
Can Web-based Worlds Teach Us About the Real One?
Robert Bloomfield is tinkering with such a plan. As an accounting professor at Cornell University, in Ithaca, N.Y., he researches virtual worlds - a nascent, but growing, field in the social sciences. His studies in economic policy lead him into digital realms where the laws of gravity don't apply. But what about the laws of supply and demand? Immersive online worlds such as Second Life and World of Warcraft attract populations that outnumber Sweden's. And now, scientists are following players down the rabbit hole in hopes of learning more about the real world. By tapping into the behavior of an estimated 73 million online gamers, Bloomfield and others hope to study the effects of public policy with an ease and specificity that only computers can deliver.

Hip-Hop Rumors: LaLa Plumps Up, Amerie Dropped? AHHmerican Gangster!
Somebody hit me with this as an explanation as to the title of Mariah's new CD, E=MC2. “Just to clarify your Mariah E=MC2 comment it has nothing to do with Eminem. E stands for Emancipation(as in the title of her last album) MC is self explanatory and the 2 or squared simply means part 2. Emancipation of Mariah 2 but doesn't E=MC2 sound alot better." Ddot the King hit me with that. Charlamagne from Wendy Williams said this: “Come on illseed! Mariah's album title is E for Emancipation the MC for Mariah Carey and the 2 represents the Sequel - Emancipation Part 2." LMAO! I didn't really think that the E meant Eminem, but it's more interesting that way.
Elkington, Performa projects and problems
The contract, slated to close in November, was never completed, according to partners in the project who spoke on condition of anonymity. Elkington said the project will proceed and said his relationship with its developers is so solid that he will participate in Celebrate Alabama, a similar project by the same company. Jackson, Miss. A $12 million project to revive the Farish Street District, originally slated to open this month, got a boost Feb. 12 with a new financing plan -- after initially being proposed by Performa in 2001. However, Jackson Mayor Frank Melton's chief of staff, Marcus Ward, says it's unlikely the financing will save Performa's involvement in Farish Street. "We've given the developer numerous opportunities to come up with a plan, a strategy that would make this project a reality," Ward said.
