| Bioneers serving locally grown food to promote sustainability
When Kryssa Bowman agreed to cater this weekend's Northern Rockies Bioneers Conference, she had a lofty goal: Cook all the meals with ingredients grown or made within 100 miles of Bozeman. “I love challenges, so I was like, 'Let's make it work, even if I have to do just salad and meat,'" said Bowman, owner of Thyme Savors, a personal chef service. “The local farmers and ranchers, they deserve to have our business."Other than the salt and pepper, she has managed to accomplish her goal, creating recipes for four different meals that will feed 325 people each. In addition to being home grown, all of the food will be pesticide free and organic.Accomplishing that feat wasn't easy. Bowman had to design the menus based on ingredients she knew she could find in the area.She picked plums and apples from local gardens and a neighbor's yard.

I've been watching the electronic press and the blogs this last week to see how much of an influence the "E" factor is going to play in this election as far as disseminating of information, spreading gossip, mobilizing people and, of course, campaigning for votes goes. I've also attended a couple of ceramahs just to see how quickly the news/info gets disseminated onto YouTube, and how much of a part YouTube is playing in terms of getting information or messages across. One big "E" splash that was made during campaigning last week was the launch of the Prime Minister's feedback Web site called warkahuntukpm.com.my, which was launched March 1 with much press and publicity. The concept behind warkahuntukpm.com.my is this: Write to the PM and tell him your issues, and he'll look into the matter.

Business Briefs: Chamber organizes annual trade show
The Athens Area Chamber of Commerce will be hosting the annual Business Expo on March 27 at The Classic Center. Organizers for the 2008 Business Expo have adopted the theme "Let's Make a Deal" and will provide activities throughout the day. The day will start with a networking event, Business Before Hours, and end with award presentations at 4 p.m. The awards will include the annual Small Business Person of the Year. Trade show organizers are expecting more than 100 exhibitors, said Rich Cary, the chamber's vice president of member services. Exhibition booth costs are $475 for members and $575 for non-members. Toccoa company plans $1M expansion Combat Training Solutions, a Stephens County company that manufactures simulated explosives for the military, announced that it plans to add more than 30 jobs and invest $1 million to expand a facility in Eastanollee.
MySpace founder targets YouTube generation
One of the founders of MySpace is aiming to take on YouTube with the launch of LiveVideo.com. Brad Greenspan's latest creation is billed as an "advanced on-demand interactive broadcasting platform providing instant global reach and messaging to any user with a webcam". Users can create and broadcast live content alone, or in conjunction with friends, colleagues or newly acquainted users, with LiveVideo.com's LiveShow platform. LiveShow boasts interactive features such as LiveTextChat, LiveCoHost and LivePolls to encourage social interaction with a real-time community. The platform also allows advanced video users to broadcast on their channel with multiple cameras to create broadcast-quality shows. "Move over MySpace, YouTube and other similar sites," the company said in a statement.
